ABOUT

My name is Shyeheya (or just "shye" is fine!) and I'm a trans woman living grudgingly in Australia. You likely know me for one of two creative outlets, my music or my puzzles.

I started producing my own music circa 2016 while I was finishing up school. It wouldn't be until two years later that I'd find my style of electronic/glitch/ambient soundscapes with fantasy themes.

My first album to be recognised by someone I'd never met was Woolgatherer's Pond, and a year later I would release it's sister album and my most popular output yet, Obscura. Neither of these records were monumentally successful, but having sold some physical copies and met many friends and fans in my career is more than enough of a success in my eyes.

After a two year hiatus I came back with a completely different project, the self-indulgent mashup album Lower Your Standards! which also served as a way to ease back into music making. I'm hopeful the future of my music career will contain more unusual and fun endeavors like it!

Early during 2020 I stumbled my way upon the niche world of hand-crafted Sudoku (and later, other puzzles too). Something about the artistry really clicked with me, and I soon would become obsessed with puzzle setting.

Many of my works have been featured on Cracking the Cryptic as live blind solves, and the most popular of which have been my classic Sudoku's that feature novel advanced logic. And related, I've been known for my development of "Fireworks", an advanced pattern in which many different applications can arise. In late 2021 some people added some of these uses to their computer solvers, first Andrew Stuart and then YZF.
In the world of pencil puzzles (non-Sudoku) I'm probably most known for making a lot of Heyawake's, and for being one of the setters for the daily GAPP's (Genuinely Approachable Pencil Puzzles) within the CTC fan discord server, where I also moderate.

I'm never sure what new obsession I'll get down the line, but whatever it may be will likely end up as a new tab on this site! Thank you to everyone who has had any interest in my art whatsoever and/or has supported me emotionally or financially <3
